Painting a Kaleidoscopic Abstraction...

Two Methods of Abstraction...

A Kaleidoscopic Abstraction begins as a basic abstract, which I have painted as a digital image.  When painting I want to create the maximum tonal response between shape and color.   Therefore, I use an old and traditional method of balancing opposites called counterchange.

If satisfied with my abstract drawing I then incorporate the use of the technique of multi-reflections that occurs when observing a three or four mirrored Kaleidoscope.

Typically the four mirrored reflection creates a square response similar to Example 1.  The three mirrored reflection creates a complex triangular response as indicated by Example 2.

Again, if satisfied with the final abstract I then paint that composition in Acrylic on Watercolor Paper.

Whimsically, I call my creations Klads and Glads.
